My purpose, values & mission

In the months leading up to and in the past few days post my 30th birthday, I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about my purpose.

As a marketer with a decade-long experience, I spend lots of my time crafting or fine-tuning the “brand purpose” for the brands I manage and ensuring everything we do is aligned with each brand’s purpose. However, I had spent very little time crafting and fine-tuning my purpose.

I decided that I needed to change this, and I did. After months of introspection, I eventually crafted my purpose, my values and my mission.

A few days ago, while reading an article on the brand evolution of Airbnb and the importance of publicly communicating a brand’s purpose to hold ourselves, as brand builders, accountable to our consumers/customers, it all came full circle for me. So I decided to also publicly communicate my purpose, to hold myself accountable to you, my friends and possible stakeholders.

Here goes:

Purpose: To shape human interaction with technology and nature, leading at the intersection of tech, creativity & policy.

Values: Vulnerability, Integrity, Curiosity, Enterprise (VICE 🌚)

Archetype: Magician 🎩

Mission: Improving genius per capita (genius by productivity, not inherent ability).

First at a sub-national level (to be determined), then country level (Nigeria), continent level (Africa), and finally, globally.

PS: While I’ll be working on a diverse range of projects, I’ll always assess them through the lens of “Is this in line with my purpose?” and “Does this take me closer to my mission?”
